The Present Day

Acquired by Portmeirion Group in April 2009, Spode now sits amongst a family of six unique and established homeware and fragrance brands. Portmeirion Group’s studio and factory, located just 500 metres from Spode’s original site in Stoke, continues to design and craft Spode’s collections with the same quality and craftsmanship as Josiah Spode I and his son, nurturing their legacy of innovation and ceramic mastery.

Although the production methods have evolved throughout the years, the process still requires the talents of highly skilled craftspeople to produce the quality expected from Spode. With designs as rich as its heritage, Spode continues to capture the spirit of the age with unique collections.

Now considered an icon of British style and craftsmanship, Spode’s Blue Italian collection continues to be produced at Portmeirion Group’s factory and is just as adored today as it was over 200 years ago. Loved for its nostalgia, Spode’s Christmas Tree collection also continues to grace our dinner tables, bringing festive cheer to homes across the globe since 1938.

Today, Spode boldly follows in its founder’s footsteps, designing and crafting desirable collections, such as Creatures of Curiosity, Kingsley, and Morris & Co. Collaborating with other iconic British brands and staying true to its legacy, each of Spode’s collections has a link between the past and present – modern patterns with a timeless feel.
