Case Moulds
Once the master block mould is taken from the original model, a subsequent mould is formed from this to create what is called a ‘case mould’ (positive shape). This is made using a high-density plaster, or silicone rubber (from the early/mid 20th century onwards). Subsequent working moulds are taken from the case mould and used in production

Slip Casting Moulds
These are production moulds from which objects are cast using liquid clay.

Working Moulds
These are production moulds used to yield cast clay objects, which usually have a lifespan for 50-60 casts before the mould deteriorates.
