David Bailey, former specialist gilder and hand painter at Spode, in partnership with Tony Challinor, another former hand painter at Spode (now both regular demonstrators at the Museum) produced a fine replica of the ‘Hürten seaux’ from the Spode Collection.
Charles Ferdinand Hürten (1820 -1901), premier artist at Copelands, hand painted a beautiful bone china seaux with floral studies of Chrysanthemums and Roses and end panels with May blossom flowers all complimented with superb, raised gilding.
